America's Got Talent: Who Were the Final Five Artists To Make It into the Finals?

America’s Got Talent‘s second night of semifinalists — Angelica Hale, Celine Tam, Christian Guardino, Colin Cloud, Diavolo, In the Stairwell, Kechi, Light Balance, Mandy Harvey, Merrick Hanna and the Pompeyo Family — had to watch a recap of Tuesday night’s performances before they got to learn the results of America’s votes.
With only five acts going through, the artists who placed first, second and third were automatically into the finals. But the acts that placed fourth, fifth and sixth took part in the Dunkin Save. Host Tyra Banks announced them early on so that the voting could begin: Mentalist Colin Cloud, dance troupe Diavolo, and singer Kechi.
Then it was time for the results: Christian Guardino, Merrick Hanna and Angelica Hale were called to the stage. Going through was 10-year-old singer Angelica Hale, who last night performed Dave Guetta‘s “Without You.”
Heidi Klum, who on Tuesday night’s performance show told Angelica that she was her favorite act still in the competition, told Angelica, “I am so sad to see everyone else go but I am so happy for you.”
Next it was Celine Tam, Mandy Harvey and the Pompeo Family’s turn to get their results. America voted through Mandy Harvey on the basis of her winning performance of her original song, “Release Me.”
Simon Cowell told her, “If you can do what you did every week so far, you have a real shot. But I can’t call it.”
Then there was an entertainment break with a performance by Las Vegas act Absinthe.
After the judges read some tweets from fans of the show, it was back to the results. In the Dunkin Save, America voted through Kechi, who on Tuesday night sang “Don’t Worry About Me” by Frances.
“I cannot believe I am in the finals,” said an overwhelmed Kechi. “This is unbelievable. Thank you so much.”
That meant the judges had to choose between Colin and Diavolo.
Simon voted for Diavolo, Mel B went with Diavolo, and Howie chose Diavolo, which meant that Heidi didn’t need to vote and Diavolo was through.
Angelica, Mandy, Light Balance, Kechi and Diavolo will join last week’s announced finalists Darci Lynne, Evie Clair, Preacher Lawson, Sara Carson and Hero and Chase Goehring in the Top 10.
Of course, it is unclear if Evie will be performing since the death of her father last Thursday.
Simon told Parade.com: Obviously, we’ve reached out to them. The message we got back is she thinks she wants to come back. We think the family wants her to perform. I think, personally, her dad, not knowing him but what I did know about him, probably would want her to be there. If she doesn’t, and that is her decision, I respect that. Then we would invite her to come back next year. It has to be her decision. Whatever happens, whether she turns up or not, that is a tough night for her. I really feel for her.”
America’s Got Talent will return on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC for the final night of performances.
