The
Nigerian government has rescheduled a meeting with striking
non-teaching staff of universities for Thursday, following the failure
of unions to Honour Monday's appointment.
The deputy director press in the
ministry of Labour Samuel Olowokere said it's the desire of the Minister
Of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, to have all the parties present
at the meeting.
Chairman of the joint action committee,
JAC, of three unions and SSANU president Samson Ugwoke said on
telephone that the invitation for the meeting was too sudden as
officials of the three unions were busy outside Abuja.
Meanwhile, the association of resident
doctors has failed to make public or make information available to the
media on the agreement it reached with the federal government to present
a memorandum of settlement to its own national executive council
meeting with a view to calling off the strike
