Normalcy has
returned to Afaraukwu, Ibeku and Umuahia, in Abia state, after
Sunday’s clash between members of the indigenous people of BIAFRA,
IPOB and security agents.
Speaking to journalists, the state
police commissioner, Leye Oyebade debunked claims that three lives were
lost during the encounter.
The commissioner of police while saying
that those who sustained minor injuries, have been treated and
discharged from the Hospital explained that the military were on a
routine patrol in the area, when the incident occurred.
Assistant director, army public
relations, 14 brigade Nigeria army, Ohafia, Oyegoke Gbadamosi told AIT
in a telephone interview that the soldiers did not invade kanu's house,
but were on a patrol when the IPOB members blocked them.
But the leader of IPOB Nnamdi Kanu,
disagreed with the claims of both the military and police, insisting
that the military were actually after him.
